Director: Kuo Jian Hong
Music Director: Julian Wong Sound Design: Shah Tahir Mixer: Guo Ningru A musical adaption of late theatre doyen Kuo Pao Kun’s play, this is the story of the ninth child born into a traditional Chinese family. Being the youngest and brightest child, he is burdened with high expectations from his family. As he struggles with academic challenges, he discovers a blossoming passion for puppetry instead.
The production had a cast of 24 accompanied by a full band. This was particularly challenging to mix as the vocal score was very complexed. Line chasing was also challenging as Laojiu's family of 18 were onstage most of the time and lines were extremely sporadical.
