Phenoumenon was the first show in Singapore that was staged using d&b Soundscape. Going into the production, I knew it was going to be an immersive experience with dancers weaving in and out between audiences. This led me to work with d&b to create a 360° Soundscape system that would allow both the dancers and audience to be encompassed with the music.
Working with Kent Lee (composer), we mixed the music content into this 360° spatial system so there was movement and trajectories for each layer of music. Lighter, higher frequency effects were given more movements around the space and lower frequency sounds were more grounded in static locations. This was later redone into a Virtual Reality version during Covid, when audiences could not watch live performances in person. |
