This was an interesting production as I did not have much sound effects on playback. We utilised mainly an iPhone app called Prop Phone to trigger the three practical iPhones that the characters were using. As the application only allows syncing one to one, our sound operator had to have three transmitter iPhones with her just to trigger the other three onstage! It took quite some work to get everything right, but the effect of it was worth it. We also used a TeleQ offstage triggered by the assistant stage manager to ring the land line on the table for a phone call. The decision for going with practicals was that it was a very realistic play set in a blackbox. There were many phone ringing cues in the play and I felt that I could not have achieved the realism of the play had I chose to place speakers in the set.
